Old School Lolita Challenge

Hello everyone!

Ghostlieangel created an old school challenge for 2024 and I really wanted to participate, so decided to make a blogpost out of it. Hope you enjoy seeing some old school lolita favourites!

1. Oldest piece

Unknown Milk OP (80s)

My oldest piece is this Milk OP from the 80s, it has a lovely oversized collar and yes, it even has shoulder pads! I adore this piece so much, truly a lovely vintage item to have.

2. Newest piece

Rorita’s Angel Wardrobe Gobelin set (2023)

I featured this beauty in my wardrobe post earlier this month, but this beautiful set from Rorita’s Angel Wardrobe is my newest piece, made and bought in fall 2023. It is absolutely everything 🖤

3. Dream item

Moi Meme Moitie Gobelin Flared JSK (2000)

I decided to put a dreamdress I own here, as my wishlist has a few unattainable pieces, but I like my focus to be at my wardrobe and the dreamdresses that are in there. This dress is an absolute dream come true and I will always treasure it. Truly a dress I wanted for many years and still cannot believe I found it and yet, here we are🖤

4. Most worn item

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright stripe socks (year unknown)

The workhorses of my wardrobe are definitely my socks, I wear them lots as a daily lolita and especially this pair matches with everything. At some point I need to replace them, but truly hope they will stay good for a little while longer.

5. Least worn item

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Angel Print Grosgrain OP (2007)

This piece feels definitely more OTT than other pieces I own somehow, so still figure out how to wear this in a way that feels very much like me. I really love the print and fabric though!

6. Favourite shoes

Antaina white boots

I love any platform boot or shoe, but currently obsessed with these white Antaina boots, I really love how they look and how comfortable they are!🤍

7. Favourite bag

GRAMM fetus bag

I have a nice selection of silly and creepy bags, but this one is my favourite. It gives me so much joy!

8. Favourite headwear

Heart E Lace Bucket Hat

This is my favourite headwear, it is so silly, beautifully old school and fits so many coordinates. I really love it🥹

9. Most versatile item

Moi Meme Moitie JSK (2000)

This dress is absolutely my most versatile item. It is easy to dress up or down, matches many different blouses and cardigans and looks super flattering too!

10. Best bargain

Jane Marple 00′ Autumn Rose Pattern Gobelin JSK (2000)

I paid 16 euros for this beauty, definitely my best bargain ever for a main piece.

11. Item you overpaid for

Marble Velveteen Tartan OP (unknown year)

I immediately fell in love with this piece, but it was listed quite high on Fril. With time it became less, but I still think I could have gotten a better deal if I would have waited longer, but had a milestone coming up and caved, bought this dress to celebrate and haven’t regretted it for a second!

12. Favourite street snap

This street snap is my all time favorite, even have a blogpost on here how I recreated in detail. I absolutely love everything about it🖤

13. Favourite DIY piece

This headdress I made years ago. Still one I wear a lot!

14. Favourite loliable piece

Jane Marple ’02 Winter JSK (2002)

My favorite loliable piece is probably this JSK. The skirt fits a long and small petticoat, but one could argue if this silhouette is still considered lolita. I absolutely love it though and style it as such. It fits perfectly with corsets, belts and cute ruffly blouses.

15. Style you want to try

I would really love to try more old school sweet and also have it more chaotic and more detailed than I do now. I really love all the fun details in this street snap!

16. Best winter item

Angelic Pretty Wool Fur cape (2001)

This capelet is perfectly warm and comfy for winter. It also comes with a matching white fur collar, but I have that one on another piece now.

17. Best summer item

Wirehead camisole (2023)

I love many camisoles annd tops for summer, but when it comes to versatility and comfort, this Wirehead one comes out on top. Absolutely a favorite to wear!

18. Favourite pattern

Moi Meme Moitie Manuscript Bustier (2001)

I am very fond of crosses and Catholic imagery in general. Dark gobelins and tartans are a close second.

19. Favourite lace type

Metamorphose Trumpet Sleeve OP

100000% raschel lace. Absolutely love it.

20. Favourite magazine scan

DIY tutorials from GLB 15

I really love scans with tutorials to make things yourself, they really inspire me! Made it a goal to make this IW headdress this year to practice my crochet skills!✨️

21. Favourite indie brand

Summer Tales Boutique Leopard set

I am very biased, but of course it is Summer Tales Boutique. They are super dear to my heart in many different ways🖤

22. Most obscure item

Metamorphose Long Jacquard OP

I still cannot believe that I own this, barely any were made. I feel incredibly lucky to own such an obscure and iconic piece from Metamorphose.

23. Most common item

Baby the Stars Shine Bright Baby Doll JSK

A very common piece among old schoolers, I have this one in sax! Super comfortable and easy to wear.

24. Favourite novelty item

Summer Tales Boutique Leopard Heart Headdress

I am not a big fan of novelty items, many that I got I gifted away to friends over time. I do like limited edition items however and this headdress with a little card stating how many were made, is really cute. It makes me appreciate it a little more somehow!

25. Favourite detail

Back bustles on dresses and skirts 🖤

26. Share a fun lolita fact

I still own my first dress and it is still 100% my style🖤

27. Most cherished item

Victorian Maiden Noble Queen JSK

Making me choose between my dresses is cruel haha! But I always say Moitie Beads JSK or Moitie Gobelin Flare JSK, but this dress is cherished for an entire different reason. I wore it on the day we buried my father and it has some very strong memories attached to it. I will never let this go because of it.

28. Favourite designer

The one and only, ms Kuniko Kato. Love all her Metamorphose designs!

29. Biggest inspiration

All cool goths and lolitas back in the late 90s and early 2000s, with a special place in my heart for Sachi🖤

Thank you for reading all of this and until next time🖤

My Old School Gobelin and Florals Wardrobe 2024

Hi everyone!

This year, I really wanted to show you my old school (inspired) gobelin and floral pieces, two motifs I am really fond of. I have it organised by brand and have omitted kimono prints and more modern florals as they have a very different vibe. Hope you like seeing all my couch inspired pieces!

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Rose Pattern OP + Cape (2001)

My favourite BTSSB floral piece ever, this 2001 beauty has my entire heart and soul. Definitely a piece with intricating details and, fun detail, almost no petticoat space!

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Floral 3 Tier OP (2003)

Another floral I absolutely adore, the tiered skirt and lace details make this so pretty and it is extremely comfortable and easy to wear, easily a favorite in my wardrobe!

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Pastel Rose OP (2002)

This dress definitely got so much wear since I got it, it immediately gives me a spring mood and I love pairing it with straw hats and soft pastel accessories. I am in love with how this fits too, definitely a super flattering cut!

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Roselia OP (2005)

This dress has a fun removable collar and so much detail again. There is another black floral print in the fabric, next to the pink florals, that barely shows up on camera, but gives a beautiful depth and detail in real life.

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Gobelin JSK with belt (2002)

Gobelin and velveteen combination?? Yes please. This dress is everything I ever wanted and fits like a dream.

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Rose Gobelin JSK (2001)

This was a dream dress for a long time, because of the bright pink details and am so happy to have found it a while ago. One day I hope to find the matching headdress.

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Angel Print Grosgrain OP (2007)

Definitely a little newer than the others and also very princessy compared to everything else I own, but had to show this lovely floral print, it is so nice and detailed! I love this soft lavender colourway.

Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Marie Rose skirt (2002)

This skirt has been a staple in my wardrobe for a long time and I still love it so much! Definitely one of my most worn pieces ever!

Metamorphose Temps de Fille

Metamorphose Gobelin Print Tuck Flare JSK (2005)

I didn’t add the ribbons as I prefer to wear this dress without them, but this piece is another one I own for over 10 years now and still gets lots of wear! Love it so much!

Metamorphose Gobelin blouse and skirt (approx ~2001)

This set is so gorgeous, the colour is deep and rich and I am so happy to have it. Meta’s gobelin print is one of my favorites ever!

Metamorphose Gobelin blouse and skirt (approx ~2001)

So was overjoyed to find it in blue and have even more possibilities to mix and match it now!

Metamorphose Bouquet Print High Waist JSK with Cape (2004)

So another Metamorphose staple is the Bouquet print and I feel very lucky to have this one too, this long dress I own since 2011 now and bought the headdress and bonnet seperately over time, they were quite hard to find. So happy to have this!

Metamorphose Bouquet Print Trumpet Sleeve Tiered OP (2004)

This also comes with armwarmers, but forgot to photograph those! This dress is an absolute dream and I hope to one day get some matching headwear for this, preferably the bonnet!

Metamorphose Bouquet Print Tiered Skirt + Bustier (2004)

This two-piece set also came on my path and as Bouquet is one of my favorite prints ever, couldn’t resist this too. Another one where I have no matching headpiece, but I adore wearing this with a cute brown bonnet.

Metamorphose Self Fabric Frill Pintuck Short Sleeve OP (2002)

This dress was featured in an old GLB ad and I was enamoured with it since I first saw it. I was so happy to buy this years ago and then I sold it to a comm member. Regretted it later and was able to buy it back. This never leaves me again!

Metamorphose Floral Print Front Ribbon OP (2002)

This dress is a super versatile floral in my wardrobe, so easy to wear and just always looks good.

Metamorphose Ribbon Bouquet Print Sleeve JSK (2003)

A very lucky find on Vinted, this dress is an absolute treasure in my wardrobe.

Metamorphose Camisole Style Flare JSK (Floral Print) (2002)

This is a weird dress with the black lace, but it so comfortable and perfect for summer! It is unlined and just very airy.

Metamorphose Thorn Print JSK (2000)

This floral needed to be featured, definitely one that is more on the gothic side, which I love. My dream is to own this print in black x white one day as well, I love it so much.

Metamorphose Corset Style Trumpet Sleeve OP (2001)

This dress is a dream come true for me, it was on my wishlist for so long, so finding it was just surreal. I absolutely love wearing this and just want to wear this all the time haha!

Metamorphose Jacquard Long OP (2001)

I have no words to describe my feelings about this dress. Honestly a dream come true. A crown jewel in my wardrobe😭

Innocent World

Innocent World Velveteen Rose Pattern Bustle Skirt (2005)

This skirt is so long, full and has an amazing bustle in the back, basically everything a good skirt needs. And then on top of that, it is velveteen! Amazing.

Innocent World Mini Rose Doll JSK (2005)

This dress I was gifted and I was so happy. It was severely altered to fit someone taller, so I altered it back to its original state and am still so happy to have this!

Innocent World Velveteen Rose Pattern Cape, Bustier and Skirt (2003)

This full set is so beautiful and somehow my camera won’t pick up the beautiful dark brown paisley print that is all over it!

Innocent World Rose Bustle JSK (2012)

This one doesn’t count as old school, but I absolutely think this gobelin dress fits the bill, so I cheated a bit and show you how gorgeous this is!

Juliette et Justine

Juliette et Justine Cathedrale de Arabesque Robe (2002)

I saw this dress for the first time when my friend Carmilla wore it and have been obsessed since. Was overjoyed when I got it and make sure to wear it as often as the weather allows, this dress is heavy!!

Juliette et Justine Reve du Paradis JSK (2003)

I still cannot believe the fact I own this and will forever treasure it.

Juliette et Justine A vôtre Grès Jupe (Skirt) (2003)

This is one of the purchases I made when I started years ago and I still own it, it is absolutely a favourite!

Victorian Maiden

Victorian Maiden Noble Queen JSK (2010)

Another one that is too young to be old school, but have to show the beautiful gobelin. I am also extremely attached to this piece, it has huge sentimental value to me.

Victorian Maiden Gobelin Fur JSK (2004)

My latest dream dress that I found after years of searching. So thankful for the egl community and fellow lolitas, who all messaged me the link to get this, it was truly heartwarming!

Victorian Maiden Rose Gobelins Double Skirt and Capelet (2001)

An absolutely iconic set I love and cherish so much.

Victorian Maiden Gobelins Back Lace-up Skirt and Capelet (2001)

So much, that I also have the black colourway.. Old Victorian Maiden just hits different!

Moi Meme Moitie

Moi Meme Moitie Rose Double Ribbon JSK (2007)

A beautiful corduroy dress that deserves some love in this wardrobe post too, truly a super flattering design!

Moi Meme Moitie Gobelin Flared JSK (2000)

Hands down the best dress Moitie ever made in my humble opinion. An absolute favourite in my wardrobe.

Moi Meme Moitie Gobelin Ribbon JSK (2003)

This dress is still surreal to own, I absolutely love how it looks.

Jane Marple

Jane Marple 00′ Autumn Rose Pattern Gobelin Top + Skirt (2000)

The iconic cavemen set, I absolutely think this is the most hilarious thing in my wardrobe.

Jane Marple Gobelin JSK (2002)

Gorgeous, thick gobelin piece that is perfect for work.

Jane Marple 00′ Autumn Rose Pattern Gobelin JSK (2000)

I can never get over the adorable angel wing embroidery of this dress. And also, this is the cheapest piece in my wardrobe, Inpaid 16 euros

Jane Marple ’02 Winter JSK (2002)

This is one of my most worn work dresses, it is incredibly comfy and flattering! I absolutely adore this print.

Jane Marple Fruit Gobelin Long Skirt (2001)

When my friend showed she was selling fruit gobelin, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I absolutely love this print and the cute underskirt. It is super comfortable to wear too!

Emily Temple Cute

Emily Temple Gobelin Velveteen OP (approx ~1998)

This dress is a wardrobe staple and is so beautiful. I have a major weakness for velveteen and gobelin together. It is still from Emily Temple before it became ETC, so it is likely late 90s.

Emily Temple Cute Gobelin JSK (approx early 2000s)

Another one that is not documented on Lolibrary, but one I absolutely love. Very much the lighter counterpart of my Moitie Gobelin JSK haha.

Rorita’s Angel Wardrobe

Rorita’s Angel Wardrobe Gobelin set (2023)

This was a custom commission this wonderful brand did for me, I absolutely love the fabric and details.

Rorita’s Angel Wardrobe Blue Floral set (2023)

I bought this one secondhand and I absolutely love how old school it looks. It is also super comfortable and came with a built-in petticoat!

R.R. Memorandum

R.R. Memorandum Midsummer OP (2021)

Another cute modern piece from an amazing brand! Has strong old school vibes and is so comfortable to wear. Reminds me a lot of old Metamorphose pieces, it has pockets too!

Angelic Pretty

Angelic Pretty Velveteen Gobelin Switching JSK (2001)

Another piece I had never thought I would own. It is absolutely stunning and I love it to bits!

Marble

Marble Rose Print Jacket and Skirt (unknown year)

Unable to date this piece, but a set I absolutely love after finding it on Vinted. It is so beautiful, couldn’t believe my luck!

Good Luck

Good Luck Gobelin set (unknown year)

My favorite Good Luck set, it is so fun and elegant. I love the fabric, does not wrinkle and just falls so beautifully.

Garaus

Garaus Gobelin coat OP (approx ~90s)

My only gobelin piece from Garaus, this old brand definitely did amazing on this piece. It is so short though! Definitely needs long bloomers or a small cotton underskirt haha.

Violet Fane

Violet Fane ~ Le Fantome de l’Antiquaire Le Marchand skirt (2022)

When Violet Fane announced this collection, it was a no-brainer for me, I needed this in my life. It has everything I love and feel lucky to have snatched the burgundy colourway. This design is truly breathtaking.

Not yet here

These two are on their way to me, very excited about them!

These were all my floral/gobelin pieces, I hope you liked seeing them! Thank you for checking out my wardrobe post and until next year! ❤️
